Finass Reisen – a business travel management provider and part of the Hotelplan Group – is increasing its commitment to sustainability. In collaboration with the airline SWISS, customers will be offered an opportunity to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from 1 June 2022 onwards and thus make their journey carbon neutral.

Finass Reisen, a subsidiary of the Swiss travel company Hotelplan Group, will become the first business travel management company in Switzerland to enable its customers to purchase sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) within the framework of a partnership with SWISS. By helping to promote the use of SAF, business customers can reduce their individual carbon footprint and help encourage sustainable air travel. "We are delighted to be the first Swiss business travel management company to offer carbon-neutral air travel with SAF. Sustainability is an important part of the strategy of the entire Hotelplan Group. We are proud that this new offer will make a significant contribution towards promoting sustainable air travel," explains Finass Reisen CEO Claudine Furrer. "We are extremely happy to further enhance our long-standing partnership with Finass Reisen. Through its commitment to sustainable fuels, Finass Reisen is assuming a pioneering role within the travel industry. By helping to promote sustainable fuel, companies like Finass Reisen are investing in and supporting the move towards carbon-neutral flight," says Marco Willa, the Head of Regional Sales Switzerland at SWISS.

Carbon-neutral air travel thanks to SAF

Sustainable fuels close the carbon cycle and are not of fossil origin. The switch from the fossil fuel kerosene to SAF will in perspective enable almost carbon-neutral air travel. At present, sustainable aircraft fuel is mainly made from biogenic residues, such as used cooking oil. However, not enough sustainable fuel is currently available and prices are considerably higher than those of conventional kerosene. SWISS is therefore using targeted measures and cooperation to drive forward the development and availability of SAF. The development of new sustainable products also plays a key role in this respect.
