The Switzerland-based Hotelplan Group has expanded its operations in Britain by acquiring the Enigma Travel Group, a company specializing in skiing holidays. As a result of the 100% acquisition, Hotelplan UK - comprising tour operator Inghams with Inntravel and now the Enigma Travel Group - has become one of the best diversified skiing and walking holidays specialist in Britain.

The Enigma Travel Group (which comprises the Esprit Holidays and Ski Total brands) records annual turnover of some CHF 85 million, and during the high season employs more than 600 staff. Both Hotelplan and Enigma have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

Says Hotelplan Group Vice Chairman Hans Lerch: "We are delighted with the acquisition of the Enigma Travel Group in the UK. This not only represents a perfect strategic complement to Inghams, but also means that we are now one of the best diversified companies on the expanding skiing holidays market in Britain."
